How to Have a Character With a Machine Gun in Lego Indiana Jones the Adveture Continues
Abilities
- Academic – These characters can solve hieroglyph puzzles to open certain doors. You can recognize these people by the brown books they carry. Hieroglyph puzzles look like little book cases - if you've played the Lego Harry Potter games, you'll know exactly what they look like.
- Dig – These characters always carry a shovel. They can dig up sparkling earth to find buried objects. Note that in some levels or hub areas, you can find a shovel which any character can pick up to gain the dig ability.
- High Jump – All female characters have the ability to jump far higher than the male characters in this game. A swirling flower marker on the ground denotes that a female with high jump is required.
- Repair – Characters with this ability carry a wrench. Just like with the shovel, other characters can also pick up a wrench to be able to repair objects. Items that need to be repaired are blue and have sparks coming out of them.
- Repel – The crystal skull wards off swarms of ants, scorpions, and snakes. Some characters automatically have the skull in their inventory, but you can pick up the skull to gain this ability in certain levels.
- Security Clearance – Approach a guard post as a uniformed soldier and you'll be allowed to enter a new area within a hub. Sometimes, this is used to unlock a bonus area.
- Tiny Characters – Some of the smaller characters can use hatches to get to a higher platform.
- Thuggee Chant – Thuggee characters have the ability to activate Kali statues.
- Weapons – Some weapons have special abilities. Pistols can be used to shoot targets; swords can be thrown to cut cables and can be used to defeat certain enemies with swords; bazookas can destroy shiny silver objects; spears can sometimes be thrown into special spots on walls so that you can use them to climb up. These weapons can either come equipped with a certain character, or can be picked up in a level or hub by any character in order to proceed.
We're also going to note here that some characters are afraid of certain critters. Indiana Jones is obviously afraid of snakes, while Mutt and Willie do not like spiders. If you have the "Fearless" extra turned on, these won't pose any problems. Note that there are some areas where touching critters is an instant death regardless of whether you have Fearless or Invincibility - only the crystal skull will allow you to pass.
Weapons and Items
Characters can pick up weapons and items. You can carry up to two additional weapons/items in addition to your default weapon/item. Push
to cycle through your inventory. If you pick up a fourth item, you'll drop one of the items you were carrying. You should always have enough characters with you on any given mission or hub area that this shouldn't pose an issue.
- Default Weapon - your character's basic attack. This could be Indy's whip, a perfume bottle, a sword, fists, etc - whatever your character happens to be carrying by default.
- Whip - Indy's the only one who can use the whip (though there are characters who have a similar chain whip, but for the most part, you'll be using Indy). We mentioned it in the default weapons group, but we're mentioning it again because it does have a few special properties. Indy can use his fists at close range, or the whip at long range. Holding
brings up the target reticule, which you can center on enemies or objects. Targeting an enemy in this way will tie them up, which is a necessary skill on some levels, where you'll need to have another character pick up a tied up enemy and place them somewhere. You can also drag immobilized enemies, or hit them. Using the whip's target can also bring items to Indy - this is really useful for reaching spears, keys, and other objects. Finally, you can use the whip to swing across gaps. - Sword
- Spear - can be thrown as a weapon. Some characters come with this weapon by default. Other times, you can pick it up in-level. You can also use the target reticule to throw it at a certain spot in the wall, and then you'll be able to use the spears to hop up to higher areas.
- Gun/Crossbow - Used for target practice (little wall targets in levels and hubs - most commonly found in Bonus Levels). You can also use this to kill enemies, of course.
- Bazooka/Grenades/Rocket Launcher - Used to shoot enemies, but more usefully known as the only way to destroy shiny silver objects. In some levels you can pick up a bazooka temporarily, but in the hub worlds, it's best to just find the character who holds the bazooka by default.
- Shovel - used to dig.
- Wrench - used for the Repair ability.
- Book - used for the Academic ability.
- Keys - used to operate cranks that aren't already functional. Sometimes, you'll need to look for keys, though we've found they're often accessible to Indy's whip ability, or they're being held by pesky monkeys (who will require a banana before they throw you the key).
- Bananas - throw bananas to nearby monkeys, and they'll throw something back to you - usually keys, but sometimes tools or items.
- Torches - torches can be used to light up a barrel of dynamite, set flammable items on fire, and to scare away critters, such as snakes (note that some critters can't be scared off by fire, but only by the crystal skull). Nobody comes equipped with a torch, but if you need one in a level or a hub, you'll be provided with one.
- Brick Piles - jiggling piles of bricks need to be built into something else. Sometimes these are items you need to proceed in a level, sometimes they're items you can break for studs. Stand near them and push
to build. - Green Pads - when you come across a green pad, you'll either need to pick up an item and drop it off on the pad. Alternatively, larger green pads require you to park a vehicle on them.
- Animals - you can ride elephants, camels and horses.

Here are the codes to unlock each variant of Indiana Jones. If you're not interested in using cheat codes, you can unlock Indy naturally through story progression for free. His ability is always the whip.

| Indiana Jones: 2 | FGLKYS |
| Indiana Jones | DZFY9S |
| Indiana Jones: Crystal Skull | 8BDJG5 |

You can also create a custom character in Creator Mode. Once you do so, you will unlock:
- What are you looking at Daddy-o?
Create a customised character.
You can kill Indy with Mac three times right off the start of the game to get:
- So what are you, a triple agent?
Destroy Indy 3 times with Mac.
Grail Knight is found at the end of the Last Crusade hub. He will cost you 22,500 studs. Once you purchase him in the hub, you'll unlock:
- A long time to wait.
Unlock the Grail Knight. (Single Player Only)
Spalko will likely be one of the last characters you unlock, once you defeat her at the end of Crystal Skull III. Defeat Indy with Spalko to obtain:
- Do svidanya, Dr. Jones.
Destroy Indy with Spalko.
Once you have Interdimensional Being, either through regular play (it becomes available at the end of Crystal Skull III) or through the cheat code discussed earlier in this walkthrough, you will get:
- What are they? Spacemen?
Unlock the Interdimensional Being. (Single Player Only)
Unlocking all of the villains in the game will grant you:
- Now you're getting nasty.
Unlock all of the enemies in the game. (Single Player Only)
Of course, we'll point out in each of the walkthrough pages where the best places to get these achievements are, and where/how certain characters can be obtained. We just wanted to give you a quick way of looking through all of the character-related achievements.

Extras
If you're interested in having these extras from the beginning, without paying the stud cost, please see the cheat codes page close to the beginning of this walkthrough. Remember that regardless of whether you choose to do this legit or with cheat codes, you still have to pick up each extra after you've finished with all of the collectibles corresponding to it. We recommend using the extras to make your life and stud collection easier, but it's totally up to you.
| Extra | Details | Unlocked By | Cost (Studs) | We Recommend |
| Adaptive Difficulty | Affects how many studs you lose when your character dies. If it's off, you'll lose 2,000 studs, regarless of how frequently you die. If it's on, you'll lose few studs if you die a lot, and a lot of studs if you die rarely. | Available at the start of the game. | Free | Leaving this off. |
| Beep Beep | When in cars, push | Green Bricks (Last Crusade) | 25,000 | Turning this on (it's great). |
| Disguise | Gives all characters a glasses, nose and mustache disguise. | Green Bricks (Crystal Skull I) | 10,000 | Up to you. |
| Fast Build | Piles of Lego build-its get built much faster. | Blue Bricks (Raiders) | 500,000 | Turning this on. |
| Fast Dig | Characters can dig much faster. | Blue Bricks (Crystal Skull II) | 300,000 | Turning this on. |
| Fast Repair | Characters can repair things much faster. | Blue Bricks (Crystal Skull I) | 300,000 | Turning this on. |
| Fearless | Indiana Jones is afraid of snakes, while Mutt and Willie do not like spiders. This extra makes it so that these characters are immune to their phobias, and can play like any other character around the critters they're scared of. | Blue Bricks (Crystal Skull III) | 1,000,000 | Turning this on. It will make your life easier. |
| Ice Rink | Makes all floors slippery, like an ice rink. | Green Bricks (Temple of Doom) | 30,000 | Leaving this off (unless you want a challenge). |
| Invincibility | Characters cannot be harmed by enemy attacks. Traps, falling and other hazards still do damage. | Blue Bricks (Last Crusade) | 1,000,000 | Turning this on. |
| Poo Money | Pushing | Green Bricks (Raiders) | 60,000 | Definitely turn this on, it's hilarious at the right moments. |
| Score x2 | Doubles how much money you get from each stud you collect. Stacks with the other score multipliers. | Red Bricks (Crystal Skull I) | 1,000,000 | Turning this on. |
| Score x3 | Triples the amount of money you get from each stud you collect. Stacks with the other score multipliers. | Red Bricks (Raiders) | 2,000,000 | Turning this on. |
| Score x4 | Quadruples the amount of money you get from each stud you collect. Stacks with the other score multipliers. | Red Bricks (Crystal Skull II) | 3,000,000 | Turning this on. |
| Score x6 | Multiplies the amount of money you get from each stud you collect by six. Stacks with the other score multipliers. | Red Bricks (Temple of Doom) | 4,500,000 | Turning this on. |
| Score x8 | Multiplies the amount of money you get from each stud you collect by eight. Stacks with the other score multipliers. | Red Bricks (Last Crusade) | 6,000,000 | Turning this on. |
| Score x10 | Multiplies the amount of money you get from each stud you collect by ten. Stacks with the other score multipliers. | Red Bricks (Crystal Skull III) | 8,000,000 | Turning this on. |
| Silhouettes | Turns all characters, animals and vehicles into black silhouettes. | Green Bricks (Crystal Skull II) | 25,000 | Leaving this off (it's easier to tell characters apart without silhouette on). |
| Snake Whip | Turns Indy's whip into a green snake, though it will still function like a normal whip. | Green Bricks (Crystal Skull III) | 250,000 | Up to you. |
| Stud Magnet | Attracts lose studs within a larger radius | Blue Bricks (Temple of Doom) | 200,000 | Turning this on. |
Remember that every time you exit to the game, you'll need to turn on the extras you desire all over again. It's always good practice to check when you re-enter a hub from the crate screen.
